Additional Information: This paper investigates the self-declared difficulties in reading and writing of a sample of older immigrants in France. It is found that a significant proportion of immigrants tend to under-report their true difficulties in reading and writing. Misclassification is mainly due to immigrants experiencing actual language problems, but who do not report them. This is the first paper specifically devoted to self-reported difficulties in reading and writing for immigrants.
