Item Type: Article
Additional Information: The article is based on research conducted at the DFES funded Wider Benefits of Learning Centre. It presents an original model of the 'distributional' effects of education social cohesion. It is based on a review of the evidence, particularly from PISA, on the variations in measures of educational inequality across countries and an original statistical analysis of aggregate data on skills distributions, income equality and social attitudes from IALS, World Bank and World Values Survey. The article was peer-reviewed for Journal publication, is widely cited and is currently the most frequently down-loaded of Compare's articles available on their website. Andy Green wrote the entire article with some statistical tables provided by the co-authors.
