||Comparative Thirty-eight young men and women from contrasting social locations were interviewed about their sexual relationships. Analysis of narratives revealed that these moved relatively easily between ‘normative’ and ‘alternative’ frameworks when accounting for attitudes and heterosexual practices. Gender and prior negative experiences appeared to influence ideas about and expressions of ‘alternative’ practices while the impact of socio-economic status seemed relatively insignificant.
