Additional Information: Field of enquiry: game studies Perspective: a multimodal analysis of four examples of fan response to the computer game Final Fantasy 7. The work was conducted as part of the AHRB project 'The Textuality of Computer Games'. Original contribution: It exemplifies a new application of multimodal analysis to a computer game, recognised as a contribution to the field of game studies in one of the publisher's reader's reviews. Research basis/rigour: the chapter consistently applies the Hallidayan semiotic metafunctions framework to the computer game-text and the interview data. This is a book chapter; but the draft manuscript was submitted to academic readers by the publishers, and redrafted accordingly.
