Additional Information: The paper discusses prediction in multilevel models with continuous and non-continuous responses. After reviewing results from the literature several areas in statistics and psychometrics, the paper investigates methods for obtaining confidence intervals in models with binary responses and recommends using the conditional standard error of prediction. For predicting probabilities, the paper distinguishes between predictions for a new or existing cluster and shows that the posterior mean of the conditional probability should be used in the latter case.
