Abstract

This chapter reviews the place of geography in the school curriculum in England, within the context of John White's critique of values, aims and purposes. It places on record my critique of how the national curriculum (up to its 2007 revision) has contrained the development of the subject in schools and embraces the notion of interdisciplinary perspectives as being potentially helpful in the future.
