Additional Information: I am the 'lead author' of this co-written academic article which examines, based on the findings of a 3-year long ESRC funded project of the UK government's education action zones policy, the value of area-based regeneration initiatives in tackling social exclusion and levering up educational achievement in disadvantaged communities. One of the article's merits is that is appears in a high status non-education academic outlet dealing with policy matters generally.
