||This chapter builds on a paper presented to an ESRC-funded seminar series on 'contexts for learning' and was commissioned for the book published from the series. It draws on qualitative findings from a multi-sector ESRC funded study of learning in the workplace to argue that the extent of pedagogical variety and nature of learning opportunities available in workplaces exist within a set of contextual relationships that shift and change with time.
