Abstract

The paper examines the wide scope of social activities and phenomena that can fall within British definitions of Citizenship Education in secondary schools and raises the concern held by many of the consequences of widespread disengagement from public activities across the society. the paper is written for teachers of the newly emerging citizenship edcuation subject in Chinese schools in distinction to the traditional subject called 'politics'.
