Additional Information: This article presents an original piece of research which looks at pedagogical theories in relation to teaching and learning with new technologies. The analysis raises questions for researchers in the fields of ICT and media education by examining uses of existing software in informal education settings. The empirical data includes observations of children’s use of software in a range of interactions, both formal and informal, and the analysis examines the learning through a range of pedagical theories. The journal editors refereed the article.
