Additional Information: Offering a unique synthesis of psychoanalytic theories and classroom research, this book provides an original analysis of the complex experiences of teaching and learning focussing particularly (but not exclusively) on the experiences of learners. In this it provides new knowledge about the pedagogic enterprise. The analysis provided of Freud, Lacan, Klein, Winnicott and Bion engages with a wide body of primary and secondary literatures and is academically rigorous; the data comes from the authour's recent ESRC research project on learner identites. Although the book was only published in September 2010 it has already garnered positive responses notably from key international scholar Deborah Britzman, suggesting that this book is of international significance.
