||This refereed journal article is drawn from a project funded by Nuffield which conerns children talking and reasoning in primary mathematics lessons. It draws on transcripts from video-taped lessons as well as computer screen dumps. It is relevant to recent calls for a focus on classroom talk which promotes mathematical reasoning, as advocated by the Williams review.
