Additional Information: These papers represent a further development, empirical and theoretical in a line of work I have been pursuing for 20 years - an attempt to theorise and ground the way in which policy gets done - the policy cycle! These papers focus on the level of the school and are based on a 2 and a half year ESRC research study. Together they offer contrasting theoretical possibilities which present different analytical possibilities for making sense of the complexities of policy in schools. The papers have a general relevance and the language and parts of the analysis have already been taken up in studies in other countries.
