Additional Information: This article critically assesses current financial support for part-time undergraduates in England, highlighting its importance for widening participation, calling on the findings of two major empirical studies conducted by the author including a longitudinal study of nearly 4,000 part-time undergraduates and another on the factors influencing the supply of part-time provision. It provides evidence (submitted to the Browne Review) as to why part- time student funding was in need of reform, and will change in 2012/13.
