Additional Information: This article reports on the staff development strand of the HEA-funded PREEL project at the IOE, based on developments in evaluation approaches in HE. It proposes an innovative concept of evaluaion, 'evaluation for learning', based on previous research conducted by the author and which was used to underpin pedagogical development.
