||The focus of this article, father primary carers of young children, is original within Europe. Only within Canada has there been a similar international research publication which has focused upon father primary carers within the discipline of early years education. This article is therefore of international significance. The article is rigorous because it provides the empirical evidence to support its original theoretical interrogation. This thorough grounded data has been abstracted to produce new conceptualisations concerning masculinity and fatherhood. The article has significant impact for international policy makers and users since it is suggests ways forward for the inclusion of fathers into early childhood services within Europe.
